This recipe is perfect for any fresh fruit season. Put all the topping ingredients into a bowl, mix, and top your fruit. This recipe has been in our family for years and my cousin Colleen is responsible for keeping my sister Mary Beth's recipe a part of our family celebrations. Thanks, Colleen!
Ingredients
  • 8 cups fresh fruit (I used apples in the post)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Topping
  • 1½ cups flour
  • '1 cup regular rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Mix fruit, sugar, and cornstarch in a large bowl.
  3. Place fruit into a 9 X 13 pan (in the post I used two 9 inch pie pans).
  4. Mix flour, oats, sugar, mace, butter, and nuts to form moist clumps.
  5. Sprinkle the topping over the fruit.
  6. Bake for about 45 minutes or until bubbly.
  7. If using smaller pans, bake 35-40 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly and serve with ice cream or Cool Whip
